چکیده
Abstract Smallholder farmers in Ethiopia are involved multiple seed sources to access bread wheat seed. The present study was conducted Baso Liben district, northwest Ethiopia, with the objectives of identifying existing sources, factors affecting use improved seed, and assessing practitioners’ (farmers experts) suggestions improve sources. Both quantitative qualitative data were collected from 108 five local experts using semi-structured questionnaires focus group discussions. analyzed descriptive statistics a line-by-line examination transcripts FGDs. Results revealed that both formal informal available area where can 41.5% utilized farm-saved seeds previous cropping season. rest accessed neighboring (11.4%), relatives (7.5%), suppliers (39.6%). Yield advantage, disease tolerance, market value, food quality found be most common criteria making decision varieties. confirms important improving farmers. Hence, importance should well-considered policy development. Moreover, government development partners need develop mechanism integrate systems availability.

High quality seed of wheat is the key to successful agriculture. Improvement and evaluation of agronomic traits have been the primary objective of breeders for many years under variable environments. The objective of the present research was to determine influence of genotype, environment and their interaction on yield and randman of seed as a seed quality represent and to evaluate stability th...
متن کاملDistribution of gluten proteins in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) grain.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Gluten proteins are the major storage protein fraction in the mature wheat grain. They are restricted to the starchy endosperm, which forms white flour on milling, and interact during grain development to form large polymers which form a continuous proteinaceous network when flour is mixed with water to give dough. This network confers viscosity and elasticity to the dough, ...
متن کاملSeed Maturation Regulators Are Related to the Control of Seed Dormancy in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
In Arabidopsis, the regulation network of the seed maturation program controls the induction of seed dormancy. Wheat EST sequences showing homology with the master regulators of seed maturation, leafy cotyledon1 (LEC1), LEC2 and FUSCA3 (FUS3), were searched from databases and designated respectively as TaL1L (LEC1-LIKE), TaL2L (LEC2-LIKE), and TaFUS3. TaL1LA, TaL2LA and TaFUS3 mainly expressed ...
متن کاملSingle-nucleotide polymorphism frequency in a set of selected lines of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).
Information on single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in hexaploid bread wheat is still scarce. The goal of this study was to detect SNPs in wheat and examine their frequency. Twenty-six bread wheat lines from different origins worldwide were used. Specific PCR-products were obtained from 21 genes and directly sequenced. SNPs were discovered from the alignment of these sequences. The overall se...
متن کاملThe wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) leaf proteome.
The wheat leaf proteome was mapped and partially characterized to function as a comparative template for future wheat research. In total, 404 proteins were visualized, and 277 of these were selected for analysis based on reproducibility and relative quantity. Using a combination of protein and expressed sequence tag database searching, 142 proteins were putatively identified with an identificat...
